Kwanzaa in the Community

Did a Kwanzaa Program at the Chicago Public Library Grand Crossing and I enjoyed it tremendously.  Not because of the program itself, which was also nice, but because I felt I made a little lee way with the kids.  They were attentive and appeared as if they were listening.  I actually got them excited.  They even wanted to know what other classes I would be teaching in the future. I love it when kids have those moments and begin to see possibilities in life.  In fact, that's what we should be doing with our kids often.  I'm working hard on my children although they are passed the age of teaching, to give them a sense of hope and excitement about what they are able to accomplish in life especially if they  maintain a positive attitude towards themselves and others. It's a slow work and progress but I believe they are beginning to see the light.......like a continual drop of water, we lay the plans and remain consistent our efforts will eventually pa...

This Art Life is a Challenge-but I'm Movin Forward

Haven't communicated with your guys in a long time so I need to give many updates. What's the 411.....well, the hope is I'll be crafting now for JoAnn Fabrics.  I'm excited.  I'll be doing beginning classes but it's a great start, such as  sewing, crocheting and even jewelry making.  I've also been involved lately with the CPL Innovation Lab.  The classes are free and use digital imaging to carve 3D models of images via laser intensive machines.  I'm also taking classes at Lurie Gardens.  My first one is Candle-making Inspired by Nature.  I'm still working it out at the Center for Green Technology and their upcoming classes.  You can never learn too much, another one of my motto's.  Finally, I'm planning on teaching how to create unique and original tablescapes for the holidays at the Library and I'm involved in another free art project with the Woman Made Gallery. My most prized accomplishment is the picture I'm ...

I have, at times, doubted myself and my abilities.  The reason is because sometimes you don't get much feedback from others about what you do.  However, I can't let that be the deciding factor in whether I keep producing my version of what is creative and artistic because therein lies my ability to grow---persistence. I am determined to keep trying and keep learning so that I can eventually form my own style of doing and being. Yesterday for Valentine's Day---the day of hearts---I spent the time showing love by sharing my love of art.  I taught a handful of young people how to make Valentine's Art Journals.  It was a messy proposition but fun.  I learned something about myself as far as learning how to teach the arts----I try to give too much at one time and I need to slow down the pace.  I should concentrate on teaching only one or two techniques and the end project should reflect that. An art technique of using tissue paper Change and growth tak...

Welcome to Homemade from the Heart.   I am attempting to create and live like the Proverbs 31 Woman from the bible.  An astonishing feat I know, but one in which I'm motivated to do. I am the Martha Stewart of the Bible.....a more appropriate way to define myself I believe.  I'm a designer and artist by nature......so as I'm learning and growing I'm sharing with you my experience and my Etsy store and products that come out of all the creativity. Join me as I create, learn and share with you what it means to live healthy, creatively and Godly all at the same time.  My desire is to live beautifully which translates living naturally.  I plan to show you gardening ideas (container gardens because I am not a true gardener), decorating from your garden and cost effective ways to decorate and re-purpose items which includes making tablescapes, wreaths and small furniture.  I'm not quite that good at doing large pieces....I'm a work in progress. So what doe...
